Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (English: Humpty Sharma's Bride) is a 2014 Bollywood romantic-comedy film, directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar. The film features Varun Dhawan as Rakesh "Humpty" Sharma and Alia Bhatt as Kavya Pratap Singh in the lead roles.[6][7] The film was released on 11 July 2014.
Plot
Kavya Singh (Alia Bhatt) is to be married, in a match arranged by her father (Ashutosh Rana), to Angad (Siddharth Shukla), an NRI from America. An engaged friend tells Kavya she has purchased an expensive,
Angad invites Kavya for dinner at a dhaba and some locals ogle Kavya passing crude comments. When she complains to Angad, instead of confronting them, he tells her to ignore them. Then Kavya calls up Humpty requesting him to help her. Humpty rushes to the place and brutally beats the men, who had become more aggressive. Mr. Singh gets angry with Humpty and tells Angad to drop them back to the house. One the morning of the wedding, Humpty sees Kavya's on-line status change to "married" and is despondent, but Kavya refuses to put on her designer gown telling her father that if she can't have the home-town boy, she can at least wear the local dress. Humpty is weeping when Mr. Singh comes and to go live his life. Humpty finds that Kavya's status was a prank and goes to Kavya's wedding and Kavya is his now.
